In 2012, I was proud to underline our ongoing commitment to supporting Europe’s Food Town’s operations by demonstrating recent investments during a visit by Austin Mitchell MP and Industry Leaders to our main site.
United Fish Industries (UFI) has invested over £500,000 of investment in Grimsby’s fishmeal plant and prior to the visit had received a further cash injection supporting the pivotal part we play in Europe’s Food Town’s operations and supporting the Seafood sector generally – having this year sponsored the Humber Seafood Summit.
At that time UFI had committed to taking a unit on the new Grimsby Seafood Village development, which will be used to keep by-product chilled and controlled, prior to the daily pick-ups that will feed into the 35,000 tonnes the 21-strong team process to make around 7,000 tonnes of high-protein fishmeal.
That unit is now operational and I am very pleased to say that operations on the Seafood Village have exceeded expectations and UFI are pleased to support this innovative development.
